PARTY FUNDS
AUDIT SUGGESTED By Teleerapti— Press Association WELLINGTON, July 18. “This is an attempt to obtain clean politics, or cleaner politics than we have at present,” said Mr A. E. Robinson when moving at the annual conference of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union to-day an Auckland remit urging that the funds of political parties be subject to audit by a Supreme Court judge, and that moneys spent by any political organisation be open to inspection just In the same way as moneys spent by individual candidates. After half an hour’s discussion, during which several delegates expressed the view that the debate was unworthy of the Union, and a subject outside its scope, the remit was lost by 26 votes to 23.
