VOTING SYSTEM
TALK OF A CHANGE By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, July 19. “I have not discussed it at all, and I am unable to say anything about it,” said the Hon. Adam Hamilton, in referring to a suggested alteration in the electoral laws. A message from Wellington published yesterday said that political circles were freely discussing the possibility of an alteration in the laws before the next election, involving a change to some system of preferential voting. The Minister added that the matter had never been discussed formally by the Cabinet, although there had been a good deal of talk about it in the newspapers.
