THE SESSION
“SHORT AND SWEET” By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, July 19. An indication that the coming session of Parliament, to open on August 29, is likely to be “short and sweet,” was given by the Hon. Adam Hamilton on his arrival to-day on a brief visit. He said all the main problems had been disposed, of last session, and he did not know of any important policy matters that would be brought down next session. The session would be ■a normal one, continuing through September and October, and possibly into early November. Asked concerning a possible further restoration of the Civil Service salary cuts, Mr Hamilton said he was unable to voice any opinion on such matters, which depended on the financial position, and there were people who said that general taxation shou’d first be reduced. The whole position would have to be sized up later. Questioned concerning the possibility of an alteration to the electoral laws, Mr Hamiltcn said he had not discussed it, and it had not been formally discussed by Cabinet. “I don’t think any news could oe better unless It were news of a general rise in prices for primary produce," said the Minister, in referring to the meat agreement.
