The Gentlemen, In their first innings in a match against the Players, made 218 (Wyatt 53, Brown not out 53). Hammond took four wickets for 53 runs. The Playei's declared their first innings closed with nine wickets down for 251 (Barber 61). Read took four wickets for 57. Gentlemen, in their second innings have lost two for 27. M.C.C. TEAM FOR NEW ZEALAND JAMES PARKS ACCEPTS INVITATIO United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph -Copyright (Received July 19, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 18. James Parks (Sussex) has accepted an invitation to tour New Zealand with the M.C.C. team. Parks, a Sussex player, is a firstclass all-i'ounder, one of the best in English county cricket. As a batsman, he has a fine eye for fast bowling, and scores freely from it. Last season he made 1386 runs for his county—in fact, he has now scored over 1000 in a season seven times. As a bowler, his skilful flighting of the ball makes him a valuable member of the attack. He took 56 wickets last season at an average cost of 28.3 runs each. He is an opening batsman, and his inclusion \. ill materially strengthen the M.C.C. side to tour New Zealand.
