Dominion Meteorologist General Situation. —A slight depression has been crossing the Dominion to-day, but the anti-cyclone covering the Tasman Sea is gradually moving eastwards. Winds—Southerly, moderate generally but freshening temporarily along ti e East Coast. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rather rough with a southerly swell south of East Cape, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Moderate southerly winds later veering to western's in the southern portion; seas moderate. Weather. —Some showers or misty rain at first in eastern districts, otherwise fair to fine; temperatures cool, with frosts inland, but milder tomorrow. Mr F. L. Wooles Vind—Moderate to fresh south to ~ uth-east. Weather—Unsettled in coastal regions, but otherwise fair and cold. Conditions in Timaru. Light rain fell in Timaru yesterday morning, intensifying in the afternoon to a steady downpour which continued until evening when the fall abated. Further rain threatened last night.
