“ALLEGED GOLFERS”
SHOW GROUNDS INCIDENT Mr A Toplis, Temuka, who had been camping at the South Canterbury Automobile Association’s camping place at the show grounds, wrote to the Association stating that on a Sunday morning at the end of April a golf ball was driven through the window of his car. The player gave his name and said he was going to refer the matter to the secretary of the Golf Club. During his stay in Timaru his wife had had several narrow escapes from being hit by golf balls and the same player missed the car by inches on the Saturday. In his opinion personal injury would result unless some different arrangements were made to protect campers from alleged golfers. The secretary, after reading the letter, explained that he had interviewed the player who was prepared to make good the damage. The letter was referred to the camp committee for a report.
