CANTERBURY J.C

LOSS OF £1726 ON YEAR A loss of £1726/19/10 on the year’s operations is shown in the annual report of the Canterbury Jockey Club for 1934-35. The annual report shows that stakes were increased by £1875 and that £3263/4/5 was written oft as depreciation. It is consequently claimed that the loss shown is reasonable and that undoubtedly it would have been less but for unfavourable weather conditions on the second day of the autumn meeting. Work on the new totalisator, the report continues, is in progress and it is confidently anticipated that the installation will be in operation at the Grand National meeting, when members and the public will enjoy the most modern facilities obtainable. It is with deep regret that the sound pace, deaths during the year of the following members are recorded: Sir H. F. Wigram, Dr. F. G. Gibson, Messrs W. M, Acton-Adams, J. Anderson, W. I. Bolam, J. C. Clarkson, W. F. Diedricks, G. G. Holmes, S. L. Rutherford and J. Studholme. The requisite number only having

been nominated for the stewards, committee and the office of honorary treasurer, no election is necessary. Financial Statement.
