Smoking is now permitted in practically every place of amusement in London and the great provincial centres. A Manchester paper in referring to this "evil,” complains that nonsmokers are often deprived of their evening's entertainment owing to “the dense clouds of shag” puffed Into their faces by the occupants of adjacent seats. But surely all these smokers don't smoke shag? How many nonsmokers are there, anyway amongst English theatre-goers? Perhaps one in a hundred. Same paper thinks New Zealanders are fortunate because smoking is not allowed in our theatres. But even if it were New Zealanders seldom smoke shag. No, they naturally prefer "toasted”—so cool, sweet and fragrant—and so harmless! —and this preference it is that explains the ever-growing demand for the five genuine toasted brands, Cavendish, Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog), Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead). Rlverhead Gold and Desert Gold. Which almost without nicotine, eliminated by the true toasting process, cannot hurt even the immoderate smoker. But have a care when buying! No use wasting money on worthless imitations
