THE WEATHER April produced one very good rain on the 11th when 77 points fell, the other falls being as follow’s: Ist, .02; 3rd, .30; 10th, .18; 11th, .77; 18th. .02; 23rd, .15; 24th, .04; 26th, .15; 27th, .09; 28th, .07 inches, making a total of 1.79 inches for the month. The first four months of this year have recorded 7.32 inches of rain. Last year’s total for the same period was 9.89 and for 1933 5.50 inches. It is rather a coincidence that in all three years, the month of January proved the wettest of the first four months. Last year’s total rainfall of 23.99' inches, eclipsed that of 1933 by 1.23 inches.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE There was only a moderate attendance at the householders’ meeting. The headmaster reported that the attendance had been good throughout the year and at the final examinations the pupils acquitted themselves well. Work in the school was progressing smoothly, but much had to be done to bring the environment up to a satisfactory state. The balance-sheet showed a small profit, on the year’s working. The committee had worked short handed since Mr Smith’s departure, but W’as now at full strength. Improvements to the surroundings w’ere discussed and a vote of thanks was passed to the staff.
