WHEN TO LOSE A CAR

A commercial traveller recently emerged from a restaurant outside which his car had been parked while he was having a meal and found a policeman taking a more than friendly interest in it. The traveller thought rapidly and decided that to claim the car immediately might lead to an unpleasant sequel, so he took a tram to the other end of the town and entered a telephone box. Ringing up the police station, he complained that his car was missing from a cap park in that district. He was, Invited to call round at the police station later for news, and did so. He found his car waiting for him when he reached the station and a sergeant, swellingwith pride at the efficiency of the town police force, explained how it had been discovered “abandoned” outside a restaurant in the main street!
