AMUSEMENTS

JAN KIEPURA AT MAJESTIC “MY SONG FOR YOU” “My Song for You,” Jan Kiepura’s latest triumph which is now at the Majestic Theatre, will have its final screenings to-day. The film, which is a worthy successor to his “Tell Me To-night,” gives him many opportunities to display his golden voice. Apart from its fine music, the picture contains a good story, in which Sonnie Hale provides the comedy element. “Dr Monica” To-morrow’s programme at the Majestic is headed by Kay Francis in “Dr Monica” and has as a support an interesting film depicting a day in the life of Dionne quintuplets. The short provides a unique opportunity of seeing on the screen the famous babies which have attracted so much interest in the Press recently. Dr Monica is not a hospital story. The plot is taken from a famous Polish play, and comes to a strange and dramatic climax when arranges to give up her 'husband when she finds he is the father of the other woman’s child, but is thwarted by the girl, who ends her life in a most exciting scene. Kay Francis has the title role, but although she portrays the part of a physician, there are no hospital scenes or medical sequences. The “other woman” is Jean Muir, and the husband, beloved by both, is played by Warren William. has another stellar role, and other important members ' f the cast include Phillip Reed, Emma Dunn, Herbert Bunston, Ann Shoemaker, Virginia Hammond, Hale Hamilton and Virginia Pine. “BRITISH AGENT” GREAT DRAMA AT REGENT “British Agent,” a stirring dramatic story based on the memoirs of R. Bruce Lockhart, with Leslie Howard and Kay Francis in the leading roles will conclude at the Regent Theatre to-day. “The Lost Patrol” Grimly and magnificently realistic in background, powerful in theme and swift and dramatic in action, “The Lost Patrol” opens at the Regent Theatre to-morrow. Strikingly different is this epic of gallantry, and reason tottering, on the desert. Played with tremendous virility by a great cast including Victor McLaglen. Boris Karloff, Wallace Ford, Reginald Denny, and a notable array of supporting artists, the production is directed with a masterful hand by John Ford. The story is that of a patrol of British cavalrymen who are lost on the Mesopotamian desert when their officer is killed by Arabs. Under the command of their iron nerved sergeant, they take refuge in an oasis, where they become the virtual prisoners of their invisible but ever vigilant enemies. Lightened frequently by comedy, tinged with romance, and often touched by pathos, the record of the doomed patrol is mostly one of sheer drama, which reaches stirring heights in a surprising climax. PLEASANT POINT TALKIES Slim Summerville and Zasu Pitts will appear in “Love, Honour and Oh, Baby,” which will be screened at Pleasant Point to-night. Slim is cast as a ne’er-do-well lawyer, and Zasu, filing clerk. Entertaining supports will also be screened.
