WEDDINGS ABROAD
At the Second Presbyterian Church, Rathfriland, Co. Down, the wedding recently was solemnised of Flying Officer Harry Lumsden Tancred, R.A.F., second son of Mr and Mrs G. H. L. Tancred, Auckland, and Anne Louise Thompson, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J. H. Thompson, Rathfriland. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. C. Spence, 8.A., and the Rev. Hugh Scott, B.A. Flying-Officer W. Pickersgill was best man and Mr D. Reid, R.A.F., was groomsman. There were four bridesmaids —Miss Florence H. Thompson (sister), Miss Dorothy D. Wilson, and Miss Ida Watson (cousins), and Miss Mary Turner Brown. A reception was held later at the Slieve Donard Hotel, from which the bridal couple set out on their honeymoon on a motoring tour of England and Scotland.
On February 5, the wedding took place quietly in London of Patrick Herbert Lyon Playfair, F.R.C.S., of Walton Park, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland, and 55 Cumberland Mansions, Bryanston Square, to Julia Mary Mavrogordato, of 8 Ladbroke Gardens, London. The bride’s mother was formerly Miss E. Napier Bell, of Dunedin.
