PAREORA
BURNS CLUB A delightful evening was given by the Pareora Burns Club to lady friends. Chief Gregory and Mrs Gregory extended a welcome to the guests. The proceedings opened with the Scottish national anthem played by Piper Ron Munro. An enjoyable concert programme was contributed to by Mrs R. Whittacase, Messrs R. Gregory, R. Munro, senr., R. Munro junr., H. Hoskins, R. Whittacase, A. McGregor, A. Barr and Pipe selections by Pipers R. and L. Munro. An address on Bums was given by Mr R. Munro senr. During supper the haggis, carried by the haggis bearer Mr A. Barr, was piped to the Chief’s table by Piper R. Munro. The presentation of the Club’s silver badges to the past and pi’esent chiefs of the Club was made by Mrs J. A. Munro. For services rendered the Club Mr R. Whittacase presented Mrs J. A. Munro with an electric hot water boiler. Those present were Chief R. Gi'egory and Ml’S Gregory, Vice-Chief R. Munro, senr., and Mrs Munro, Mr and Mrs A, Barr, Mr and Mrs A. McGregor, Mr and Mrs H. Hoskins, Mr and Mrs J. Jopp, Mr and Mrs L. Howard, Mr and Mrs D. Johnson, Mr and Mrs J. McIntyre, Mr and Mrs Whitticase, Mrs J. A. Munro, Misses M. Macphail and Tregenza, Messrs R,. A. Munro, D. Campbell, E. Longman, E. Marsden, Pipers R. and L. Munro.
PERSONAL Mrs R. Irwin, Durie Hill, is visiting relatives and friends in Pareora and Timaru. Miss M. Grandi, Rathmore Street, Timaru, was the guest of Mrs A. Douglas for the week-end. While playing football for Pareora against a Waimate team last Saturday, D. Campbell had the misfortune to break an arm through being kicked while attempting to pick up the ball.
