BETSY JANE

I don’t like Betsy Jane at all— She always is so good— She never has been naughty yet, But just does things she should. She’ll never play my games with meShe says they’re much too rough, She always has a handkerchief, And when it’s cold, a muff. But one day when she came to play, She really looked so clean— That I just couldn’t help it— I pushed her in our stream! But when the grown-ups saw her They sent me straight to bed, And Betsy Jane had cakes for tea While I had plain dry bread!!
