OTAIO

SOCIAL AND FAREWELL Last Wednesday evening the Otaio School was crowded with children, members of the committee, parents, and friends who gathered to say farewell to Miss I. F. Bremner of St. Leonard’s who has been teaching at the Otaio School for the last three and a half years and has now taken a position in the George Street School, Dunedin. A most pleasant time was spent in playing games. Miss Vera and Miss Evelyn Martin and Messrs Quigley and G. Patterson won the prizes. Before supper was dispensed, Mr East, chairman of the school committee, referred to Miss Bremner’s departure and stated not only had she taken a keen interest in her school work, but had given unsparingly of her valuable time to assist in any social event for the welfare of the district, and children and friends alike were indeed very sorry to part from her. Mr East then asked Miss Bremner to accept a toilet set with good wishes from all present. Miss Bremner, in returning thanks said she would always remember her Otaio friends and would look forward to returning to Otaio at some future date for a holiday. After supper a short musical programme was given by Mrs J. Bowie, Mr Ellis and Miss Vera Martin. The singing of “She’s A Jolly Good FeUow” brought the evening to a close.
