MR E. O. PALMER

By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. April 1. The death occurred yesterday morning of Edmund Oscar Palmer, aged 89 years. He was born in Nelson, and at an early age went to Kaikoura, where, in 1870 he married Miss Elizabeth Morrison. There were six sons and one daughter. Mr Palmer was engaged in farming, and later lived In retirement on his farm at Ludstone terrace. He took a keen interest in public affairs in his young days, and was responsible in a large measure for the establishment of a hospital in the district. One of his sons, Mr Charles Oscar Palmer, who died recently, was well known throughout the Dominion as a writer of verse. Another son, Mr Phillip Robert Palmer, also died. The surviving sons are Messrs William, Alexander, Leonard, and Edward Palmer.
