STRONG AND GENERAL COMPETITION

United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received March 25, 9.30 p.m.> SYDNEY, March 25. At the wool sales 9884 bales were offered and 9522 sold, while 643 bales were disposed of privately. With strong and general competition from all sections, the market was 5 per cent, above the closing rates last week, all descriptions sharing in the advance. Full and satisfactory clearances were effected. Greasy merino sold to 18d per lb. The average price last week was £l2/3/4 a bale or 9.8 d per lb.
