HOCKEY
WEST END LADIES’ CLUB The annual report of the West End Ladies’ Hockey Club states that shortly after the hockey season of 1934 commenced, it was decided to form a ladies’ Club in the district. The movement was supported by interested West End people, and a team was eventually formed. The club met with a fair measure of success and played 12 games, and also entered a team in the annual six-a-side tournament promoted by the South Canterbury Hockey Association. In conjunction with the Wesley Ladies’ Club a successful dance was held in the pavilion. The practice ‘games were w T ell attended, and the experience gained should help the members considerably during the coming season, when it is hoped that a team will be entered in the junior section of the competition promoted by the Hockey Association.
