BEQUESTS TO ART

WALTER KIRBY SINGING SCHOLARSHIPS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 24, 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 24. Probate is being sought in the will of the late Walter Kirby, the Australian tenor, who left £9031. The bequests included £IOOO each to the Universities of Melbourne and Auckland for the establishment of “Walter Kirby Singing Scholarships.” For unexplained reasons, Kirby left the residue of his estate of £14,000 to charities in a little English village in Wentage, Berkshire. The allocation of the money was left to a certain titled woman in London, whom the agents are now seeking.
