BIGAMY CHARGE
OFFENCE ADMITTED By Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N., March 22. William Frank Lionel George Brown (f ), a salesman, admitted a charge of bigamy in the Magistrate’s Court to-day and also pleaded guilty to making a false declaration for the purpose of securing the registrar’s certificate. His wife gave evidence that they were married at Onehunga in September, 1920, and there were three children. Accused deserted her in 1926 rnd she secured a guardianship and maintenance order. Her first knowledge of the second marriage was when the police informed her. The other woman in the case said c_:3 met accused in June last at New Plymouth, when he said his name was Gray and that he had been divorced for many years. She married him at Palmerston North in November 1934 A clerk in the registrar’s office stated that Brown gave the name of Gray Mid declared himself to be a bachelor. Accused was sent to the Supreme Court for sentence.
