TO-MORROW’S SERVICES Services at the Baptist Church will be held at 11 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. The Rev. J. Russell Grave will preach. The services at St. Paul’s, Highfield, will be conducted by the Rev. James Baird. He will speak both morning and evening on the subject, “Awake, Thou That Sleepest.” Harvest thanksgiving service will be held in the Congregational Church. The Rev. J. Milburn Stewart will be the preacher. At the evening service Mrs Jenkins will sing, “Harvest.” Special harvest music will be given by the choir. In St. Mary’s Parish there will be no evening services except at St. Mary’s where there will be the usual Lenten mission service at 6.30 p.m. Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. Mary’s, St. John’s and All Saints’ at 8 a.m. There will be Family Eucharist at St. Michael’s at 9.30 a.m., Family Service at St. John’s and St. Peter’s at 11 a.m., and Matins at St. Mary’s at 11 а. There will be no service at Washdyke. The seventieth anniversary services will be held in Trinity Presbyterian Church to-morrow. The preacher will be the Right Rev. Principal John Dickie. D.D., Moderator of the General Assembly. Special music will be contributed by the choir. The soloists will be Miss M. Ellis and Mrs H. Naylor. On Monday evening in conjunction with the Timaru Presbytery, an anniversary gathering will be held in the Church. The speakers will be Dr. John Dickie, Rev. Adam Begg, M.A.. Rev. W. Couling. Moderator of the Presbytery, the Mayor, Rev. J. D. McArthur. On Wednesday evening a conversazione will be held in the hall. A novelty programme has been arranged, including the screening of old identities and group photographs of old members. All the meetings are open to the general public and old citizens will be specially welcomed. At the Salvation Army the services will be taken by Lieutenant Beatty and Adjutant Dick. On Monday night a lantern picture display will be given. At Chalmers Church, harvest thanksgiving services will be held. The Rev. Llywelyn Williams will officiate both morning and evening. Special music will be contributed by the junior and senior choirs. In the evening. Mrs W I. Tait will sing “With Verdure Clad ” The services in the Methodist Churches will be taken as follows: Banks Street, the Rev. J. D. McArthur and H. L. Fiebig, 8.A.. will be the preachers at 11 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. respectively. Harvest thanksgiving will be observed at Woodlands Street, the Rev. H. L. Fiebig. 8.A.. at 11 a.m ard the Rev. J. D. McArthur at 6.30 p.m. The Rev. W. Jenkin at 11 a.m. and Mr W. G. Irwin at 6.30 p.m. will oe the order of the day at Waimataitai. At Kensington Mr A. Stead will preacn at 11 a.m., and the Rev. W. Jenkm at б. p.m. The country appoint cents will be according to “Plan.” “Matter” is the subject of the lessonsermon in all churches of Christ, Scientist, to-morrow. The Golden Text is: “Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.” (Hab. 2-19). Among the citations which comprise the lesson-sermon are the following: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee. Ye must be born again.” (John 3, 6-7). “Mortals must gravitate Godward. their affections and aims grow spiritual, they must near the broader interpretations of being, and gain some proper sense of the infinite, in order that sin and mortality may be put off.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy).
