NEW ZEALAND TOURNEY By Telegraph—Press Association CAMBRIDGE, March 21. Further matches in the junior cup were played to-day in glorious weather. There was a big attendance. Matangi B (C. Bryant, E. Ferguson, R. Ranstead, J. Butler) 5 beat Rangitikei (lan Parsons, R. Simpson, R. McKelire, J. G. Wilson) 4. Both sides played fine polo, a hard, close game resulting. Rangitikei led 3-1 at halftime. There was an exciting finish, and an extra chukka had to be played, Matangi scoring the deciding goal. The scorers for Matangi were Ferguson and Ranstead, and for Rangitikei McIlelire (4). In the junior semi-final, Matangi c (E. Brown, J. Ranstead, L. Chitty, W. Phillips) 9 beat Matamata A (R. C. Morgan, P. Thirlwall, E. Johnston, F. Maisey) 3. Matangi won comfortably. Chitty (5), Ranstead (2) and Brown (2) scored for the winners, and Johnston (2) and Maisey for Matamata. Thirlwall received a nasty fall in the first chukka. He resumed after receiving medical attention, but was replaced at half-time. Ranstead in the first game also had a heavy fall, his horse rolling right over him. He was unhurt and finished the game. The first handicap cup game resulted:—Cambridge B (R. Peake, R, Townend, R. Hannon, R. Speake), handicap of 12 goals, defeated Te Awamutu (Len Kay, Lyall Kay, H. Kay, D. Kay) 16-14. The game was not spectacular. Te Awamutu were superior, but could not overtake their younger opponents’ lead. Peake (2), Hannon and Townend scored for Cambridge, and Len Kay (5), H. Kay (4), D. Kay (3) and Lyall Kay (2) for Te Awamutu.
