Mr T. H. Galbraithe (Invercargill) is a guest at the Grand. Mr J. D. Spedding (Sydney) is visiting Timaru and is at the Grosvenor. Messrs A. R. Elder (Auckland), J. M. Cooke. J. B. Spencer (Christchurch), W. M. Couper and J. J. Couper (Oamaru) are guests at the Empire. Senior-Sergeant D. J. Hewitt (Invercargill) , who replaces Senior-Sergeant I. H. Mathieson in the Timaru Police, has arrived and taken up his new duties. Messrs J. A. Stevenson, W. R. Jamieson, H. G. Livingstone, M. Sayegh, J. Brown (Christchurch), A. G. Sharpe (Wellington) are staying at the Grosvenor. Mr W. A. Brown, headmaster of the West End School, New Plymouth, has forwarded his resignation to the Taranaki Education Board, having been appointed headmaster of the Kaikorai School, Dunedin. Recent arrivals at the Dominion include: Messrs G. Wraytt (Garston), L. A. Neidrue, A. S. McNaught (Invercargill) , F. Trapski (Pukarau), C. W. Welch (Christchurch), A. V. Hewitt, L. R. Harker (Wellington) and J. Simpson (Dunedin). Sir Alexander Herdman has communicated to the Government his desire to retire from the Supreme Court Bench. It is understood that Cabinet has accepted the resignation and that his Honour w 7 ill vacate office in about three months’ time.
