INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS MEETING AT GERALDINE The annual inter-school athletic sports conducted under the auspices of the Geraldine District Schools’ Sports Association were held under ideal weather conditions at the Geraldine Domain on Wednesday. The Hilton School, with a total of 289 points, won the championship cup, and also the boys’ and girls’ relay race cups. The Geraldine Primary Department’s “Dodo House” were the runners-up with 275 points, and Woodbury secured third place with 274 points. As in other years the Geraldine School was divided into “houses,” teams competing under the titles of Dodo, Huia, Tui and Kiwi, so that small schools would have an equal chance of competing with the larger school. The sports, which continued throughout the day, were ably controlled by the following officials: Superintendent, Mr A. W. Tucker; judges, Messrs W. E. Cook, D. Pringle. J. S. Lorimer and H. Turner; starter, Mr D. C. Williamson; announcer, Mr E. O. Schnack; marshal, Mr P. W. Chapman; recorder. Miss M. Cruickshank; timekeeper, Mr L. M. King. At the conclusion of the sports the trophies were presented by the Mayor (Mr B. R. Macdonald), who congratulated the winners. Cheers were given for the winners and for Mr Macdonald.
