NEWS AND NOTES
Reference to the cheapness of hotel accommodation in Europe was made by Professor R. M. Algie in an address given at a gathering of secondary school masters in Auckland on Saturday night. “When I was in Finland two years ago, before the exchange rate was raised,” he said, “I was able to stay at a magnificent hotel in Helsinki and was given a luxurious bedroom, with private bath and sitting room, for the equivalent of about 11/- a day in our currency, this including everything. The service was superior to that in the best local hotels.”
