The engagement is announced of Sybil Marjorie, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Warner, Durban, South Africa, and Colin Dyke, second son of Sir Hugh and Lady Acland, “Chippenham,” St. Albans, Christchurch. Mr Colin Acland, who has been in South Africa for several months, left Durban yesterday on his return to New Zealand, and is expected in Christchurch about April 20. The Duke and Duchess of Kent had only one cruet among their wedding gifts—a little silver affair which had been sent to them by that most modern of young women, the one-time Miss Margaret Whigham, and her husband, Mr Charles Sweeny. The Princes of the Royal House have often played golf with Mr Sweeny, a clever American golfer, and. until the Prince of Wales took up gardening, they were frequently partners in friendly rounds.
