FLYER’S ENGAGEMENT TERMINATED
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 13, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 12. The engagement of Miss Florence Desmond, the film actress, and Mr T. Campbell Black, Mr C. W. A. Scott’s companion on his record-breaking flight to Australia, has been terminated by mutual consent. Miss Desmond says that she intends to resign from the directorate of the Campbell Black Aviation Company.
Before hopping off from Mildenhall on the long Centenary Air Race to Melbourne, Black proposed to Miss Desmond, but she refused to give her answer until the end of the race. Black’s first act on reaching Melbourne was to speak to her by radio-telephone and Miss Desmond said “Yes.” A London cable on March 10 said: Campbell Black has formed a private company, known as the Campbell Black Aviation Company, Ltd., to “undertake all kinds of aerial transport” under the directorship of himself and the actress, Miss Florence Desmond, to whom his is engaged.
