Dominion Meteorologist General situation.—The northern depression has been losing its intensity while anti-cyclones have been located respectively east of the South Island and over south-eastern Australia. Winds.—Between north-easterly and south-easterly prevailing, strong in parts in the far north and north-east districts, otherwise light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough north of Gisborne and rather rough north of Cape Egmont, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Moderate to fresh east to south winds, and moderate to rather rough seas. Weather.—For the most part fair to cl udy; isolated showers are likely mainly in the northern and eastern districts; temperatures warm, becoming cooler shortly in the south. Mr F. L. YVooles Wind.—Moderate to fresh, easterly to southerly. Weather.—Unsettled; showers likely. Conditions in Timaru Although for the greater part of the day conditions were overcast in Timaru yesterday, the temperature was warm and the weather was not unpleasant.
