WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

TYCHO The annual meeting of the Tycho Women’s Institute was held on Saturday, Mrs Stewart presiding over a good attendance of members. A new member, Miss O’Boyle, was welcomed. Miss O’Sullivan and Mrs Nelling were appointed delegates to the annual Federation meeting at Geraldine. The annual report and balance-sheet were read by the secretary, general satisfaction being expressed at the state of the Institute’s finances. The new committee elected was as follows:—President, Mrs Stewart; vicepresident, Mrs McLeod; committee, Mrs L. Smith, Mrs C. McPhedran, Miss M. Morrison, Mrs Talbot and Mrs F. Armstrong. The junior members then took charge of the meeting, acting as hostesses and entertaining with a playreading, songs and a competition, all of which were very much enjoyed. The competition was won by Miss M. Morrison.

Competitions resulted as follows: Kisses. Miss O’Sullivan 1. Mrs A. Marshall 2, Mrs P. Talbot 3. Asters, Mrs McPhedran 1, Mrs McLeod 2, Mrs F. Armstrong and Mrs P. Talbot equal 3. Paper flowers, Mrs McLeod 1, Mrs McPhedran 2. Juniors: Asters, Miss N. McLeod 1. Paper flowers, Miss N. McLeod 1. The premier bloom was brought by Mrs McLeod (dahlia).
