DEATH SENTENCE
INFANTRYMAN CONVICTED OF MURDER United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 8. John Bainbridge (24), infantryman, was sentenced to death on a charge of murdering Edward Hedman (75). Bainbridge attended a New Year's Eve party at his fiancee’s home and played “murder.” He drew the ace of spades, and acted the part of a murderer. Bainbridge did not show agitation and participated in the fun. The Crown alleged that a few hours before the party Bainbridge murdered Hedman, whose head was battered, the throat cut and also robbed him of £36 to buy an engagement ring.
