THE WEATHER
Dominion Meteorologist General situation—Barometers are still high over the greater part of New Zealand, but have been falling in the far north, a depression having been centred near Norfolk Island. A depression is also covering south-east-ern Australia to-day. Winds—Strong easterly north of Kowhia and East Cape, elsewhere easterly backing to northerly light to moderate, but later freshening. Seas (N.Z. waters) —Rough north of East Cape, elsewhere smooth to moderate but rising shortly south of Cape Egmont. Eastern Tasman Sea Moderate easterly winds backing to northerly and freshening in the southern portion, seas rough in the northern portion but moderate in the southern portion. Weather —Dull and misty with rain probable in Auckland province, elsewhere fair to cloudy but later rain developing also in the western and far southern portions of the South Island; temperatures warm. Conditions in Timaru Timaru was favoured with . perfect summer weather conditions during the week-end. Saturday broke dull but by mid-day the sun was shining and th i remainder of the day was fine and warm. Brilliant sunshine was in evidence all day yesterday, when the temperature was warmer than has been the case for some time.
