NOTES The Orepuki was delayed in the south by bad weather but is expected to reach this port from Oamaru this evening to load for Wellington. Nelson and New Plymouth. The Poolta is due to arrive from Westport to-day to discharge coal which she loaded at Westport last week. She should complete discharge and proceed to Oamaru this evening. The Breeze should be here from Dunedin on Wednesday to load for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui. She should get away for the north via Lyttelton that day. Antiope With Bitumen The Bank Line steamer Antiope arrived from Lyttelton on Saturday with bitumen, loaded at Tampico, to discharge at Timaru. She is at No. 3 wharf where she will remain until tomorrow when she is due to sail for Westport for bunkers before proceeding to Australia. Rangis’ Movements The Rangitata sailed from London on March 7, and is scheduled to arrive in New Zealand about April 11. The Rangitane, which sailed from London on February 7, radios her expected arrival at noon on Wednesday. Coaster Gale Sold The Canterbury Company’s coastal trader Gale, which has been a regular visitor to Timaru for many years, has been sold to the Belfast and Koroit Steam Navigation Company, of Port Fairey, Victoria. She will replace the Coramba, which was wrecked on November 30, but will not leave New Zealand waters for at least a month. She is in port from Lyttelton, and to pick up Wellington, Picton and Wanganui shipments, and it is probable she will be here on subsequent trips before she sets out across the Tasman. The Gale is of 567 tons gross register, and was built at Enkhuizen (Hollond) in 1919. Before being purchased by the Canterbury Shipping Company, she was known as the Rawlinson and then as the Boschpolders. Canadian Victor Listed Messrs J. P. Lamb and Co. advise that the Canadian Victor will call at Timaru from Lyttelton on March 26 to load cargo for Canada, United States, United Kingdom and Continental ports. She will sail the following day for Dunedin. Maheno’s Last Trip The Union Company’s vessel Maheno leaves Melbourne next Thursday for Dunedin via Bluff, being expected at Dunedin on March 19. The Maheno is to proceed to Port Chalmers on arrival to be laid up for an indefinite period. Waipawa From London The Shaw, Savill vessel Waipawa is to leave London on April 10 for Port Chalmers direct, arriving at Dunedin about May 18, proceeding thence to Lyttelton and Timaru to complete discharge of inward cargo. The vessel is to leave the Dominion on June 25 for London.

The steamer James Cook, which is to enter the trans-Tasman service, arrived here yesterday from the United Kingdom. She is a steel vessel of 2142 tons originally built for the carriage of locomotives, steel girders, and large machinery. Her hatches, which are 62 feet, are among many unusual features. MAIL NOTICES
