MORTGAGE BILL
FARMERS’ CRITICISM By Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N„ March 9. Following an address by Mr W. J. Poison, M.P., at Rangiotu, last evening, to a meeting of farmers held under the auspices of the Farmers’ Union and Dairy Farmers’ Union, a resolution was carried as follows: “This meeting is of the opinion that as an aid to the dairy farmers tile Mortgage Corporation Bill is perfectly useless, since it will neither lower the rate of interest, reduce the capital liability nor tend to improve the security of tenure. If, however, the Gcvernment is determined to forpe it upon the community, we urge it to be amended as follows: ‘That all shareholder capital be abolished; that Corporation bonds be State guaranteed to ensure the lowest rate of interest being secured.’ ”
