Mr R. St. V. Parker-Jervis sailed in the Maunganui on Tuesday for Australia and England.
Messrs G. Matthews (Dunedin) and M. L. Beaven (Christchurch) are registered at the Dominion. Messrs H. D. Smith. H. James (Christchurch), S. Harris (Wellington) and S. M. Martin (Birmingham) are registered at the Grosvenor. Commander B. R. Willett is en route to New Zealand to join H.M.S. Dunedin. He succeeds Commander P. B. R. W. William-Powlett.
At the annual meeting of the Zingari Football Club last night, a motion of condolence was carried with Mr Ron. Duncan in the death of his mother, Mrs W. Duncan.
Major H. R. Crailshan, of the Royal Thames Yacht Club, who has been on a holiday visit to the Dominion in the course of a world tour, left for Honolulu by the Niagara. Mr W. L. Wyber, manager of the Invercargill branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., has been advised of his transfer on promotion to the General Manager’s office at Wellington.
Mr J. Robertson, the Dominion secretary of the Motion Pictures Exhibitors' Association, has been selected as the official Labour candidate for the Masterton seat. He formerly represented Otaki in the House of Representatives from 1911 to 1915. Flight Lieutenant 3. A. Gibbons, of Wanganui, has been appointed pilotinstructor to the Canterbury Aero Club. He will succeed Mr R. A. Kirkup. who has accepted a position with East Coast Airways Ltd. There were twelve applicants for the position.
Messrs I. Macdonald, J. C. Clark, J. MacDonald (Dunedin), J. Burt (Fairlie), P. Carlisle, J. S. Meadowcroft, L. M. Phillips, H. M. Williams. W. O. Gill, A. Buxton (Christchurch), E. J. Parr and J. E. Learning (Wellington) are staying at the Empire.
Reference to the death of Mr F. J. Dossett, Pleasant Point, who had been a member of the staff of the Levels County Council for 23 years, was made at a meeting of the Council yesterday by the chairman. Mr T. B. Garrick, who said that Mr Dossett had been a good servant. A motion of condolence was carried in silence. The Rev. A. S. Moffatt, vicar of Malvern since 1928, has resigned his cure with the intention of going to England at the end of March on family business. Mr Moffatt came to this diocese from the diocese of Dunedin, where he had been vicur of Tapanui (1915), Naseby (1919), and Bluff (1924). He was ordained in 1914 from Selwyn College. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr E. Vincent was carried at the annual meeting of the Kingsdown Football Club on Tuesday, members standing in silence. Mr Vincent, who had occupied a prominent place in Rugby matters, had been a vic?president of the club and had also been keenly interested in school football.
