FRAUD ALLEGED B.\ Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, February 5. The trial of Ernest Mabin Gilmoui and Charles Ernest Vickers, charged with conspiracy to defraud by false pietences, in connection with the sale of vendors’ and contributing shares in the Craftsman Company, was resumed at the Supreme Court to-day. The evidence w 7 as mainly on the lines of that given in the lower Court. Harry Valentine Roberts, liquidator of the company, appointed by the shareholders in 1931, was cross-exam-ined regarding the directorate and management by Mr W. E. Liecester, Vickers’s counsel, who said the defence alleged mismanagement and that the accused were being made scapegoats. Despite the Crown Prosecutor’s objection, the questions were allowed by Mr Justice Smith, who remarked, “I think Mr Liecester is merely impugning the directors." Roberts said he had investigations made as liquidator, into the allegations suggested, and obtained the authority of Mr Justice MacGregor to prosecute the accused.
