COST OF HUNTING
RESIGNATION OF MASTERS IN ENGLAND United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received January 21, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, January 20. The high cost of fox-hunting is believed to be responsible for a large number of resignations of hunt masters. Mr Reginald Wright and Lord Inchcape are resigning from the joint mastership of the Southatherstone Hunt. Mr Wright told “The Daily Express,” that it cost £2OOO daily to hunt some of the bigger packs, which, if out thrice weekly, means an expenditure of £6OOO. Generally, the master receives a guarantee of a crtain sum from subscribers, but in some of the “smarter” hunts like Fernie. there is no guarantee; consequently, the cost falls largely on he masters who bear most of the cost of taking down the wire, repairing fences and meeting poultry fanners' claims.
