DEATH OF BALBOA

By Telegraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, January 21. The death has occurred of Balboa, winner of the Auckland Cup and New Zealand Derby. His progeny have won £50,660 and he himself as a racehorse won £5759.

Palatinate fell over a trestle at Trentham on Saturday, and may not be at his best in the Highweight today. Red Sun, by defeating Cuddle in a gallop, has come into favour for the Wellington Cup, but he has always been better in private than with the colours up since he won the Racing Club Handicaps at Auckland and Wellington two years ago.
