All forms of sports except the swimming championships were postponed yesterday owing to the drenching rain. The Moorefield races are off till Thursday, and the women's cricket test till Monday. The Weather Bureau says; A cyclonic disturbance is causing unsettled weather in east and south-east Australia, with the danger of floods, chiefly in the western and southern rivers. Boisterous weather in Brisbane caused the abandonment of all sports except racing throughout the metropolitan area yesterday. Owing to heavy rain in Melbourne the Australian tennis championships and all sports were postponed.
