CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
8.8. C. ARRANGEMENTS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 16. “The Daily Express” says that the 8.8. C. has arranged with Mr Richard Long (95), the oldest inhabitant of the tiny Warwickshire village of Ilmington, to speak the Empire’s Christmas greetings to the King, The villagers will gather in the old tithe barn on Christmas Day and sing a Carol and an old folk song and then Mr Long will read a message to the King and speak. The villagers will sing three lines of the National Anthem broadcast, and then will be switched to Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa and Canada, where will be sung the remaining lines, until the end of the third verse. The massed choirs of the Empire will sing the final line of the chorus.
