UNEMPLOYED CHRISTMAS PAY.
To the Editor ol “ The Timaru Herald ” Sir. —Kindly allow me space in your valuable columns to make reference to the payment of the unemployed men of Timaru through the Christmas holidays. The estimates are misleading to most of the men, also to the landlords who will be looking forward for their rent. Now. sir, I would like to ask Mr McKessar if every one who lias been on the unemployed three months in Timaru. receives the two weeks’ pay, also the weekly bonus, which amounts to one-fourth of the month's wages, or do the men who should oe standing down between the holidays, lose that week’s pay? That is the point we are anxious about. If we lose that week, I would like the citizens to know we will receive only the bonus extra, that is only £l/1/3 for a married man with two children—l am. etc., NOT ALL HONEY. Timaru, December 14.
