GIRLS PREFER RED HAIR NOW
Platinum blonde hair ‘is slowly but surely giving way to red hair. ~ This is the opinion of Mr W. McGill, president of the London Hairdressers’ Wholesalers’ Association—and he should know. “The craze for very fair hair is dying down now,” he said, “and, instead, girls are going in for red. Some have it only slightly tinted, while others like a very definite shade of red.” Young women in this country have acquired the dyeing habit. “There is not the slightest tendency to return to natural hair,” Mr McGiil went on. “When a girl has once had her hair bleached or brightened in some way, she does not want to return to her old, dull colouring.” But—older women want to grow old gracefully, and their hair is allowed to turn grey, instead of being youthfully tinted. Mr McGill predicts that hair will remain much the same length as in past months—short enough to be tidy and long enough to curl up if necessary. “Women will never go back to really long hair, except in a few cases,” he said. A popular style for evening parties this winter will be the “Marina” coiffure, named after Princess Marina. Curls are and are worn piled on the top of the head. The coiffure Is completed with a jewelled bandeau I or a narrow ribbon band.
