THE ROYAL WEDDING

SIZE OF MARRIAGE LICENSE The marriage license of Prince George and Princess Marina will be nearly three feet square. It will be made of parchment and the writing on it will be done with quill pens of varying thickness of nib. It is shortly to be prepared by the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Faculty Office, in readiness for the Royal wedding November 29. Although the Royal honeymoon plans have not yet been fixed, it is thought Prince George and his bride will spend the first part of it in England, probably remaining (here for Christmas. The Royal lovers have followed precedents in spending part of their period of courtship at Balmoral. Prince Frederick William of Prussia (afterwards the Emperor Frederick) pi'oposed to the youthful Princess Royal as they rode together on the hills near Balmoral. Dismounting, he plucked a piece of white heather and presented it to the “Rose of England.” The Marquis of Lome (afterwards Duke of Argyll) wooed Princess Louise during a visit to Queen Victoria at Balmoral. Although the Royal wedding will inevitably be accompanied by official pomp and ceremony, there will be, behind the scenes, much the same homeliness as accompanies any marriage. The King and Queen take as -keen an interest in such affairs as most parents do. When Princess Mary was married, she and her husband were pelted with confetti by the King and the Princes when they drove away from Buckingham Palace on their honeymoon.
