GLEN-ITI At the monthly meeting of the Gleniti Women’s Institute. Mrs Winnington presided over a very good attendance of members and visitors. Mrs Winnington gave a report of the half-yearly federation meeting held at Temuka. Mr Tom Curr gave a demonstration of seagrass work and was accorded a vote of thanks. Miss Mills entertained with a very descriptive talk on her recent travels abroad, which was much appreciated A very keen interest was displayed in the drawing of the art union which was run to help pay for the piano. Miss E. Macauley proving the winner. Mrs Winnington then presented Miss Macauley with a very handsome bedspread. Competitions resulted.—Best assortment biscuits: Mrs Morse 1. Mrs Esler 2. Mrs L. Clark and Mrs D. Ramsay equal 3. Best coat hanger: Mrs Morse 1, Mrs L. Clark 2. Mrs Esler 3. Heaviest lettuce: Mrs Morse 1. Mrs Esler 2. Mrs D. Ramsay 3. Specimen bloom: Miss F. Pease < tulip). The hostesses were Mesdames R.awson. Esler, Philip. Underhill and Miss Parker.
