DAVIS CUP PROSPECTS AMERICAN CONFIDENCE RETAINED United Press Association—By Electric Tel egraph—Copyrlgh t (Received November 15, 7.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 14. The defection of G. M. Lott and L. R. Stoefen has not upset the United States Davis Cup plans or weakened the confidence of Mr Walter Merrill Hall, president of the Lawn Tennis Association, in the country’s chances of giving England a brisk challenge. “For the singles we have a pair of seasoned and reliable internationalists in Wilmer Allison and S. B. Wood,” said Mr Hall. “It is pretty early to forecast what will happen in June but for the doubles there is Donald Budge and Gene Mako of the Pacific Coast. This pair, I would say, shows promise of surpassing the greatness of Lott and Stoefen as a team.”
