RATIONED TEACHERS
AN INCREASE IN PAY By Telegrapb—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 15. The Cabinet has decided to grant the 5 per cent, increase in pay in respect of rationed teachers as from August 1 last. An announcement to this effect was made by the Minister of Education (Hon. R. Masters, M.L.C.) before his departure for Australia this evening. The annual rate of payment was increased from £6O to £72 as from August 1, and the 5 per cent, increase had been paid on the lower rate from April 1 to July 31 only. The Minister explained that * the present Cabinet decision would mean that the 5 per cent, increase would now apply to the higher rate of pay approved as from August. The money would be paid through the Education Boards as soon as the salary schedules were prepared and passed for payment.
