PAREORA WEST SCHOOL
GOOD PROFIT ON JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS Last Monday evening the Pareqra West School Diamond Jubilee Committee, presided over by Mr B. E. Evans, held a meeting to receive the secretary’s report of the recently-held diamond jubilee of the Pareora West School. " After hearing the report, it was most gratifying to find that besides being an outstanding success from a social point of view, the balance-sheet showed a substantial credit. After discussion as to how the money should be spent, it was decided to pay for the planting of a belt of trees to shelter the football and playing grounds, to buy a gramophone and records for use in the school, and to present £l/1/- to the School Committee. Mr Evans thanked the members of the committee for their work and the loyal support afforded in the arrangements for the jubilee. Particularly he thanked Miss Tizard. secretary and treasurer, whose work was outstanding in every way. No duty, he said, was too small, none too big for her to carry out. For this the committee felt that it could not let the occasion .pass without giving her something tangible, and he had much pleasure in calling on Mrs Chamberlain to make the presentation. Mrs Chamberlain also eulogised Miss Tizard’s services in connection with the jubilee, and on behalf of the committee, handed her a leather attache case and a hand-bag. Miss Tizard made a suitable reply.
