The Holmglen arrived from Dunedin yesterday morning to load for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth and Waikato. She sailed last evening for Lyttelton. The Wingatui also arrived from the south yesterday. She took Picton, Wellington and Auckland shipments before proceeding to Lyttelton. The inter-colonial steamer Waikouaiti is due to reach Timaru from Dunedin to-day. She has coal and general cargo to discharge here and after loading for Sydney and Newcastle she is to depart for Lyttelton. She will probably get away for the north this evening. The Breeze should be here from Dunedin on Saturday to lift Wellington, Picton and Wanganui shipments. The Opihi is due Co reach Dunedin to-morrow and should be here on Saturday to load for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth. The Waimarino left Wellington yesterday for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru and Lyttelton. At this port, where she is due on November 20, she will load for Wellington and Auckland. The Parera is scheduled to call at Timaru on November 20 to load for Wellington. Wanganui, New Plymouth and Waikato. Eleven Motor Vessels Ordered On her maiden voyage, the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s new motor ship Waikawa left Liverpool on November 6 for New Zealand. She is to be added to the company’s fleet. The first one, the Waiwera, is also on her maiden voyage, and is loading at North Island ports for Great Britain. The third vessel, the Wairangi, is nearing completion, ancl will be commissioned shortly. Altogether, eleven large motor ships have been ordered by shipping companies trading between Great Britain and New Zealand. In addition to the three for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, another two were ordered by the Federal Line, and one of them, the Durham, is now on her maiden voyage to Australia. The construction of three vessels was undertaken by the Commonwealth Line, and the first, the Port Chalmers, has made a number of voyages to New Zealand and Australia. The second ship was launched recently. The Blue Star Line also ordered three large motor ships, and the, first, the Imperial Star, is to leave England for New Zealand on January 3. She will be followed by a second new vessel, leaving England for New Zealand on February 20. All the new motor ships will be fast vessels. They will be fitted with all the latest appliances for the carriage of New Zealand produce, accommodation being provided for chilled beef. Refitting; for Antarctic The Byrd expedition ship Jacob Ruppert, which has been laid up at Port Chalmers since returning from the ice, was docked on Tuesday morning for cleaning and painting below the waterline. Her topsides have already been repainted, also the boats and deck fittings. Together with the Bear of Oakland, which has been reconditioned in dock, the Jacob Ruppert will leave for the Antarctic after Christmas. Maheno to Leave Melbourne The Union Company advises that the Maheno is to leave Melbourne to-day for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. She is due at Dunedin on November 20. Personal Mr J. Barnard has replaced Mr R. Blampied as second officer on the Waitaki. Mr C. V. Thurston has joined the Parera as second engineer. Mr W. Cole has been engaged as first officer on the Poolta, relieving Mr J. Warcup.
