BURNSIDE SALE
VALUES HARDLY MAINTAINED By Telegraph - Press Association DUNEDIN, November 14. The double sale attracted large entries in the fat stock sections at Burnside to-day. The 420 head of fat cattle yarded vere an attractive lot and met a steady sale with prices firm for cows and slightly easier for bullocks as compared with last week’s rates. Extra prime heavy bullocks sold to £l4/17/6, prime heavy £lO/7/6 to £ll/12/6, prime medium £9/7/6 to £lO/12/6, light and medium £7/12/6 to £9/2/6; extra prime heavy heifers and young cows to £9/17/6, prime heavy £7/2/6 to £B/2/6, and light to medium £5/7/6 to £6/17/6. There was a yarding of 240 head in the store cattle section, including a consignment of forward steers from the West Coast, which sold from £4 to £7/3/-. Prices for cull cows showed a slight appreciation. The fat sheep entry numbered 2800, which included several consignments of heavy wethers, also some excellent pens of heavy shorn ewes. Values for the greater part of the sale were firm at late rates, but as the market concluded at a late hour competition over the final race was confined principally to speculators. Passings were frequent as sales could only be effected at considerably reduced rates. Extra prime heavy woolly wethers sold at 34/-, shorn to 29/9, prime heavy woolly wethers 27'to 29/-, shorn 24/- to 26/-, medium quality woolly wethers 24/- to 26/-. shorn 20/- to 22/-; extra prime heavy
woolly ewes to 29/6, prime heavy 25/ to 26/6, medium 22/- to 23/6, ligh shorn to 18/-; extra prime shorn ewe to 22/6, medium 17/6 to 19/-, and ligh down to 14/-. The entry of 300 fat lambs was o pleasing quality and proved rather to many for requirements, with a resul that prices were easier than last wee t ln* c to 1, 6 a heacl - Best lambs sol to 29/6 and prime sorts from 23/- t In the fat pig section 143 were of fered, comprised mainly of baconer: which met with keen competitior Porkers also met with a firm sal< Heavy baconers sold to £3/15/-, an< best porkers to £2 12/-.
