SYDNEY REGATTA COMFORTABLE WIN FOR WANGANUI United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 11, 6.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 11. At the Sydney regatta, Wanganui Union very comfortably won the Kerr Cup for the senior eights over a course of 2000 metres. The trophy, which was specially presented for yesterday’s race becomes the property of the winners. Taking the lead after the first 200 yards, the visitors rapidly drew away and at half a mile there was clear water between them and the other crews. The veteran Healey did not have to increase the rate of stroking at any stage to give the crew a three lengths’ victory. A splendid race took place between Mosman, Haberfield, Sydney and New South Wales Police for the minor placMosman finishing best for second with Sydney a canvas away third. In the 2000 metres senior sculls, both the New Zealanders, Smith and Abbott contented themselves with minor placing’s in the heats to qualify for the final. Owing to indisposition Smith was unable to compete in the final, which was won by one and a half lengths by Turner, of New South Wales police, from Abbott. Abbott was last in a field of five with a quarter of a mile to go, but finished strongly, sculling well. His showing against Turner, who is the most outstanding sculler in Australia since Bobbie Pearce, was really good. C. Pearce, of Balmain, and a cousin of Bobbie Pearce, was third in the 2000 metres sculls, a length behind Abbott. Moss, 'who was injured in Melbourne, did not row in the Wanganui Union eight, being replaced by Luxford.
