RIFLE SHOOTING
TIMARU DEFENCE CLUB On Saturday afternoon the Timaru Defence Rifle Club fired the first match of the season, the conditions being 10 shots at 300 and 500 yards, The day was perfect but the light seemed hard at times and a lot of magpies were registered. At 300 yards Rfm. L. G. Smith headed the list with 45. He made a great start but did not finish so well. At 500 yards the conditions improved and some better shooting resulted. Rfm. E. Brehaut put on nine bulls and finished with a magpie. The match for the day and the gold rifle were won by E. Brehaut, with 96. Scores:—
